my kind of darkness

October 30, 2012

I always have mixed emotions when it comes to Halloween. I’m all for playing dress up and distorting the reality for a day (just a trip to the Grocery store on that day is a treat with all the characters down the isles) but some people need to take it to the NEXT level. The kind of level that makes you want to close you eyes and erase the memory.

We are all here for boo-tiful and tasteful kind of darkness so let me present you Vivienda En La Finca by Spanish architecture and design studio A-CERO.

The design team created quite a unique setting which could totally be the dwelling of a modern-day Dracula. All elements are there: strong interplay of light and dark, seductive art curiosities and luring Gothic volumes. Everything is so well though-through, it give me the designer goose bums.

There is something forbidden but very tempting at the same time. Would you dare to come in?

dream vacay: part 2

March 3, 2012

May be because I’m still under the charms of the recent “hearts’ day” or may be it’s the unlimited bubblie with today’s lovely brunch that I really want to share another part of that “Grand Voyage” all the way back in September. This part is the most dear to my heart and I guess I was saving it to a special day.

After leaving the city of lights, we drove to Loire Valley where we allowed ourselves to submerge into the good days of chivalry and romanticism of the Golden Era of France back in 16-17th centuries. Our first stop on that discovery was the magnificent Chateau de l’Epinay, privately owned B&B with history going back to the 13th century.

With the mixture of Gothic and Early French Renaissance architecture, this secluded castle captured my heart instantly.

Not touristy polished, it gives you that dreamy authentic experience so worthy of the side trip.

Me, letting the chair down and dancing in the sun. Dream moments captured forever.

Fresh flowers with home made breakfast.

Being the only guests that night we got the luxury of having the chateau all to our own even only for a day.

Here’s what sold me to make this side trip in an instant. This blue bedroom with the set of caned bed and wardrobe. I just HAD to see this pair! And the authentic terracotta tile so soft on the bare feet.

love is in the air

February 13, 2012

Even though I’m a strong believer in  expressing love in every little thing on the daily basis, some extra affection has never hurt anybody. So I hope you pause this busy Tuesday and get a chance to give and receive some :)

This post I want to dedicate to YOU… you know who you are (if not, look one more time at the image below:). Thanks for always looking at the bright side and cheering me up when I run low on the Endorphins. I HEART you!

happy and new

January 3, 2012

Coming back from the state of incommunicado (i.e. ski trip to the mountains), I’m all geared-up for the new peaks to conquer this year. Last year was incredibly eventful so it will be hard to out-do it: between another Masters, dreamy new job, a taste of southern hospitality, the life-transformational grand voyage, motorcycle licence (!!!) and the “Junior Designer of the Year” Award @ new dreamy job…really there’s nothing else I could have wished for.

For the year to come, I want to wish you all new breath-taking adventures, bright lazy mornings and a sea of champagne bubbles to celebrate every little moment!

I try to stay away from the resolution lists, they make me sad of all the things I haven’t accomplished in the outgoing year. Instead I make a lot of wishes with every strike of the bell on that special night  and promise to be my best…yet again. So far this technique worked magic for me :) I hope that all of you wished BIG this year, as I certainly did. What is it? Can’t tell yet, but you might be able to get a hint of it from this video.

ready for a party….yay!

July 9, 2011

If you find nothing to do tomorrow afternoon, crush my party at Dockweiler Beach for a cup of pinkberry and long conversations by the fire. Yes, I’m officially turning “quarter century +1”, you do the math.

malibu wines

February 18, 2011

Still doubting whether or not should I disclose the best kept secret place in LA. I wish I could keep it all to myself. Malibu Wines winery is just perfect in all ways: it is a little quite place away from the hustle of the city, with live music on the weekends and delicious wine list. So we went there on yet another sunny California weekend (sorry East Coast for bragging), this time to celebrate my hubby’s B-day with a little picnic.

My favorite yellow truck, I would totally drive it if I lived in a countryside.

Since they sell only wine there, we brought some snacks and I set up a picnic table

Everybody loved my little newspaper pockets filled with popcorn, veggie chips, fruit and nuts.

We had such an amazing and relaxing time. Can’t wait for the rain to be over so we could go again.

Thanks to my dear friend for taking such lovely pictures. Great memories!

contagious valentine

February 13, 2011

I’m a bit skeptic when it comes to Valentines day. Don’t get me wrong, I love treating my honey to a special surprise on the occasion. I just don’t believe in buying gifts, rather than fining a unique way to show your affection. But when I came across a remarkably decadent wishlist put together by 1stdibs for Valentines, I couldn’t help amusing there for a while. Oh ladies, I went all out!

back to reality

January 4, 2011

Wow, I can’t believe that the New Year’s week has gone so fast. Or may be our little vacation at North Tahoe was so incredible that I wish it had lasted a little bit longer. A perfect winter wonderland with LOTS of snow, amazing skiing and much-needed family time over board games and long conversations by the fireplace.

Although quite refreshing, a week without internet and barely any phone connection has taken its toll. Now I’m drowning in emails and to-do lists. Oh well, it was worth it!

magic in the air

December 24, 2010

May be I’m being a bit childish but every year for the New Year’s holidays I’m trying to hold on to that magical feeling, the one that was floating in the air when I was little. Back then you’ve known for sure that something special is happening that night and it’s not just another 12am starting another day.

And I still believe in this now, so I do send out my wishes out there. I’m so grateful for all of your support and encouragement this year and wishing that the next year bring health to you and your families, lots of joy and creativity. As for me, I’ve already got the biggest gifts I could receive: I’ve spent another wonderful year with my incredible husband and loving family, I’m lucky to have the profession that I really love and all of you out there sharing my inspirational journey. What else could I wish for?!

ralph laurent winter window displays

December 22, 2010

The only time I get to walk around the city is when we have people visiting and I’ll do my regular sightseeing tour. And I was really surprised, even perplexed by the lack of the holiday decor around Beverly Hills. I loved window shopping there especially around Christmas but this time the only windows that we up to par is Ralph Lauren’s.
